Indicator Lights
The instrument panel has many
indicators to give you important
information about your vehicle.
(Except EU models)
Supplemental Restraint
System (SRS) Indicator
This indicator comes on when you
turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position. It is a reminder to you
and your passengers to protect
yourselves by fastening the seat
belts. The indicator stays on until
you fasten seat belt. The indicator
stays off if you fasten your seat belt
before turning on the ignition. A
beeper also sounds if you have not
fastened your seat belt.
This indicator comes on when you
turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position. If it comes on at any
other time, it indicates a potential
problem with your front airbags or
automatic seat belt tensioners. On
models equipped with side airbags,
this indicator will also alert you to a
potential problem with your side
airbags. For more information, see
page 76 .
Seat Belt Reminder
Indicator
(EU models)
The seat belt system includes an
indicator on the instrument panel
and a beeper to remind you and your
passengers to fasten your seat belts.
If you turn the ignition switch to the
ON (II) position before fastening
your seat belt, the beeper sounds
and the indicator flashes. If you do
not fasten your seat belt before the
beeper stops, the indicator stops
flashing but remains on.
If you do not fasten your seat belt,
the beeper will stop after a few
seconds but the indicator stays on
until you do. Both the indicator and
the beeper stay off if you fasten your
seat belt before turning on the
ignition switch.
If you continue driving without
fastening your seat belt, the beeper
sounds and the indicator flashes
again at regular intervals.
On some types, the seat belt system
does not have a reminder beeper.
Only the indicator comes on as
described above.

Turn Signal and Hazard Warning
Indicators
This indicator comes on for a few
seconds when you turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position. It will
then go off if you have inserted a
properly-coded ignition key. If it is
not a properly-coded key, the
indicator will blink and the engine
will not start (see page 112 ).
Low Oil Pressure
The left or right turn signal indicator
blinks when you signal a lane change
or turn. If the indicator does not
blink or blinks rapidly, it usually
means one of the turn signal bulbs is
burned out (see pages 328 and 329 ).
Replace the bulb as soon as possible,
since other drivers cannot see that
you are signaling.
Indicator
The engine can be severely damaged
if this indicator flashes or stays on
when the engine is running. For
more information, see page 368 .
