Power liftgate

ate it excessively e.g.: more than
approximately 10 times repeatedly.

Never operate power liftgate attached
with any heavy objects (ex. bicycles). It
could damage the power liftgate.

charged, do not leave the power lift
gate in the open position for a long
time.

How to reset the power liftgate
僅 Do not modify or repair any part of
the power liftgate by yourself, visit an
authorized Kia dealer.
If the battery has been discharged or
disconnected, or if the related fuse has
been replaced or disconnected, for the
power liftgate to operate normally, reset
the power liftgate as follow:
僅 When jacking up the vehicle to
change a tire or repair the vehicle, do
not operate the power liftgate. This
could cause the power liftgate to
operate improperly.
1. Make sure the gear is shifted to P
(Park) position.
2. Press and hold the Power liftgate
open/close button located inside the
liftgate.

僅 In cold and wet climates, the power
liftgate may not work properly due to
freezing conditions.
And then press the power liftgate
outer handle switch for more than 3
seconds with pressing the power lift
gate open/close button. The chime
will cound.

Automatic reversal
During power opening and closing if the
power liftgate is blocked by an object or
part of the body, the power liftgate will
detect the resistance.
3. Close the liftgate manually.
4. Press the power liftgate open button
on the outside of the vehicle.
僅 If the resistance is detected while
opening the liftgate, it will stop and
move in the opposite direction.
5. The liftgate will open and the chime
will sound.
僅 If the resistance is detected while clos
ing the liftgate, it will stop and move in
the opposite direction.

6. If the liftgate is stopped before it is
fully open, resetting will not proceed.
Wait until the liftgate is open fully and
stopped.
However, if the resistance is weak such
as from an object that is thin or soft, or
the liftgate is near the latched position,
the automatic stop and reversal may not
detect the resistance. If the automatic
reversal feature operates continuously
