Safety -> Hill Assist Descent Control for Your Peugeot 5008 SUV Third Generation (2024-2025)

Safety
To select the system, at speeds below 31 mph
of the vehicle.(mode active up to 50 mph (80
km/h))
Hill Assist Descent
Control
Hill Assist Descent Control system for medium to
steep slopes, on tarmac or other road surfaces
(e.g. gravel, mud).
This system reduces the risk of slip or loss of
control of the vehicle when descending, whether
going forward or in reverse.
During a descent, the system assists the driver
in maintaining a constant speed, depending on
the gear engaged, while progressively releasing
the brakes.
(50 km/h):
5
Mud
This mode, when moving off, allows
considerable spin on the wheel with the least
grip to optimise clearing of the mud and to regain
grip. At the same time, the wheel with the most
grip is controlled in such a way as to transmit as
much traction torque as possible.
When moving, the system optimises wheel spin
to respond to the driver's requirements as fully
as possible.
(mode active up to 31 mph (50 km/h))
Press this button; a window is displayed on
the touchscreen.
Sand
This mode allows little spin on the two driving
wheels at the same time to allow the vehicle to
move forward and limit the risks of getting stuck
in the sand.
For the system to activate, the gradient
must be greater than 5%.
The system can be used with the gear
selector at N, D or R .
Click "Hill Assist Descent Control" button
to activate/deactivate.
The system is activated when this
indicator lamp appears in grey on
the instrument panel.
(mode active up to 75 mph (120 km/h))
The system is no longer available if the
speed of the vehicle is:
– above 43 mph (70 km/h).
– managed by the Adaptive cruise control
function.
Do not use the other modes on sand as
the vehicle may become stuck.
The system becomes active at
speeds below 19 mph (30 km/h);
this indicator lamp lights up in
green on the instrument panel.
Recommendations
The vehicle is designed principally to drive
on tarmac roads, but it may occassionally
drive on other less passable terrain.
However, it does not permit off-road driving:
– Driving on terrain that can damage the
underbody or tear off elements (e.g. fuel
pipe, fuel cooler) by obstacles or stones in
particular.
When the vehicle begins its descent, the
driver can release the accelerator and brake
pedals; the system regulates the speed:
Activation/Deactivation
By default, the system is not selected.
The state of the system is not saved when the
ignition is switched off.
The driver can also select the system when
the engine is running or when the vehicle is
stationary.
– If the gearbox is in first or second
gear, 5 the speed decreases and the
indicator lamp flashes rapidly.
– Driving on terrain with steep gradients and
poor grip.
– Crossing a waterway.
– If the gearbox is in neutral, the speed
decreases and the indicator lamp flashes slowly;
89
Safety
in this case, the maintained descent speed is
lower.
In the event of an impact
Seat belts
Depending on the nature and seriousness
of the impacts, the pyrotechnic device may
trigger before and independently of airbag
deployment. Deployment of the pretensioners
is accompanied by a slight discharge of
harmless smoke and a noise, due to
the activation of the pyrotechnic cartridge
incorporated in the system.
In all cases, the airbag warning lamp comes
on.
Following an impact, have the seat belt
system checked, and if necessary replaced,
by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified
workshop.
Inertia reel
Activation of the system may cause noise
in the transmission. This is perfectly
normal and has no consequence on the
behaviour of the vehicle.
The seat belts are equipped with an inertia
reel which allows the strap length to adjust
automatically to the shape of the user. The seat
belt returns to its storage automatically when it is
not used.
The inertia reels are fitted with a device which
automatically locks the strap in the event of a
collision, emergency braking or if the vehicle
rolls over. It can be released by pulling the strap
firmly and then releasing it so that it reels in
slightly.
On a downward slope, with the vehicle
stationary, if the driver releases the accelerator
and brake pedals, the system will release the
brakes to set the vehicle gradually in motion.
The brake lamps light up automatically when the
system is regulating.
If the speed exceeds 19 mph (30 km/h),
regulation is paused automatically, the indicator
lamp goes back to grey in the instrument panel.
Regulation resumes automatically when the
speed falls below 19 mph (30 km/h) again, if the
slope and pedal release conditions are met.
The driver can depress the accelerator or brake
pedal again at any time.
Pyrotechnic pretensioning
This system improves safety in the event of a
frontal or side impact.
Depending on the severity of the impact,
the pyrotechnic pretensioning system instantly
tightens the seat belts against the body of the
occupants.
Front seat belts
Each of the front seats has a three-point seat
belt with inertia reel.
The front seat belts are fitted with a pyrotechnic
pretensioning system and a progressive force
limiting system.
The pyrotechnic pretensioning seat belts are
enabled when the ignition is on.
Malfunction
Force limiting system
Rear seat belts
In the event of a malfunction, this
warning lamp comes on in green on
the instrument panel, accompanied
by the display of a message.
This system reduces the pressure of the seat
belt on the chest of the occupant, thus improving
their protection.
Progressive force limiting system
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualified workshop.
This system reduces the pressure of the seat
belt on the chest of the occupant, taking
their stature into account, thus improving their
protection.
