Removing and installing fog lights up to  
model year 2017  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Unclip bumper trim at catches -arrows-.  
– Remove bolts -arrows-.  
– Pull fog light housing out of bumper.  
– Release and disconnect connector -arrow-.

Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
– Tighten bolts securing fog light to bumper cover to 1.5 Nm.  
– Check functioning of fog light.  
– Checking fog light settings and, if necessary, adjusting ⇒  
page 162 .

Removing and installing fog lights as of  
model year 2017  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Torque screwdriver -V.A.G 1624-  
Removing  
– Switch off ignition.  
– Turn light switch to zero position.  
– Remove fog light trim ⇒ General body repairs, exterior; Rep.  
gr. 63; Front bumper; Removing and installing bumper cov‐  
er.  
– Unscrew bolt -3-.  
– Pull fog light -2- out of bumper cover.  
– Disconnect electrical connector -1-.  
Installing  
Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Make sure that fog light is properly seated in its mountings.  
– Perform functional check.  
– Check adjustment, and adjust fog light if necessary ⇒ Main‐  
tenance; Booklet 11; Descriptions of work.

Removing and installing fog light bulb  
Note  
Depending on vehicle equipment, the fog light bulb is also used  
as static cornering light.  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Remove fog light ⇒ page 160 .  
– Turn bulb holder in -direction of arrow-, and remove it from  
fog light.  
Fog light bulb: H11 12V 55 W  
Note  
The left fog light bulb -L22- or right fog light bulb -L23- is  
permanently fixed in the bulb holder and cannot be renewed  
individually.  
Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
Caution  
Do not touch bulb glass when installing a bulb. Fingers leave  
traces of grease on the glass, which evaporate when the  
bulb is switched on and cause the glass to cloud over.  
– Check functions of fog light.  
– Checking fog light settings and, if necessary, adjusting ⇒  
page 162 .
