Removing and installing steering col‐
umn switch module
Caution
To disconnect and reconnect the battery, the procedure de‐
scribed in the workshop manual should be strictly adhered to
⇒ page 11 .
The following equipment-specific components are integrated in‐
to the steering column switch module:
♦ Turn signal switch -E2-
♦ Headlight dipper and flasher switch -E4-
♦ Parking light switch -E19-
♦ Intermittent wiper regulator -E38-
♦ Intermittent wiper switch -E22-
♦ Multifunction display call-up button -E86-
♦ Multifunction display memory switch -E109-
♦ Cruise control system switch -E45-
♦ Button for CCS set -E227-
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Torque wrench (5 - 50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-
Note
♦ For removal and installation of the airbag coil connector and
return ring with slip ring -F138- or the steering column switch
module, the steering wheel must be in the “centre position”
(wheels in “straight ahead position”).
♦ The airbag coil connector and return ring with slip ring
-F138- is not to be moved out of position.
