Removing and installing tail light clus‐  
ter  
Note  
♦ The illustrations show the removal and installation for the  
right tail light.  
♦ The removal and installation of the left tail light are carried  
out in the same way.  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Open rear lid.  
– Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- from tail light.  
– Guide tail light sideways out of ball head in  
-direction of arrow-.  
– Release and disconnect connector -arrow- of tail light.  
5. Tail lights

– Remove tail light.  
Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
– Connect connector and engage it.  
– Insert tail light in body aperture, and fit fixtures onto ball  
heads.  
– Align tail light with body.  
– Screw in securing bolts, and tighten them to 4 Nm.

Removing and installing tail light bulb  
Note  
♦ The illustrations show the removal and installation of the left  
tail light bulb -M4-.  
♦ The removal and installation of the right tail light bulb -M2-  
are carried out in the same way.  
♦ The 21 W glow coil will not be activated.  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Remove tail light ⇒ page 167 .  
– Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- on bulb holder.  
– Push tail light bulb -3- into bulb holder, turn it in anti-clock‐  
wise direction, and pull it out.

Tail light bulb: 12V, 5W/21W  
Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
– Perform functional check of tail lights.

Removing and installing brake light  
bulb  
Note  
♦ The illustrations show the removal and installation of the left  
brake light bulb -M21-.  
♦ The removal and installation of the right brake light bulb  
-M22- are carried out in the same way.  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Remove tail light ⇒ page 167 .  
– Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- on bulb holder.  
– Push brake light bulb -4- into bulb holder, turn it in anti-clock‐  
wise direction, and pull it out.

Brake light bulb: 12 V, 21 W  
Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
– Perform functional check of tail lights.

Removing and installing rear fog light  
bulb  
Note  
The rear fog light bulb -L46- is only installed in left tail light.  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Remove tail light ⇒ page 167 .  
– Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- on bulb holder.  
– Pull out rear left fog light bulb -L46- -1-.

Rear left fog light bulb -L46-: 12V, 21W halogen  
Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
– Perform functional check of tail lights.

Removing and installing reversing light  
bulb  
Note  
The reversing light bulb -M17- is only installed in right tail light.  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Remove tail light ⇒ page 167 .  
– Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- on bulb holder.  
– Push right reversing light bulb -M17- -1- into bulb holder,  
turn it in anti-clockwise direction, and pull it out.

Right reversing light bulb -M17-: 12V, 21W  
Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
– Perform functional check of tail lights.

Removing and installing turn signal  
bulb  
Note  
♦ The illustrations show the removal and installation of the rear  
left turn signal bulb -M6-.  
♦ Removal and installation of rear right turn signal bulb -M8-  
are carried out in the same way.  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Remove tail light ⇒ page 167 .  
– Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- on bulb holder.  
– Push rear turn signal bulb -2- into bulb holder, turn it in  
anti-clockwise direction, and pull it out.
