– Open flap -1-.

– Unscrew bolts -2-.

– Pull off dash panel end cover on driver side -1- far enough to

gain access to electrical connector.

– Disconnect electrical connector for operating unit for lighting

- EX59- .

– Remove dash panel trim on driver side -1-.

Installing

Removing

– Release steering wheel adjustment mechanism.

– Pull out steering wheel completely, and set it down. Use full

adjustment range of steering column for this purpose.

– Release upper steering column trim -1- from mountings of

lower steering column trim -arrow B- and -arrow C-. To do

this, turn steering wheel accordingly.

– Unclip upper steering column trim -1- from gap cover in

direction of -arrow A- using commercially available plastic

wedge, and remove it.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Press in upper steering column trim until it engages audibly.

– Swing sun visor towards front.

– Remove illuminated vanity mirror ⇒ Electrical system; Rep.

installing rear illuminated vanity mirror [W49]/[W50] .

– Detach sun visor -2- on centre mount -1- and fold it aside.

– Lever off caps -3- using a small commercially available

screwdriver.

– Position pliers - T10558A- centrally in retaining clips -3-.

– Detach foremost (when seen in direction of travel) retaining

clip -3- in sun visor bracket -1- using pliers - T10558A- .

– To prevent front retaining clip -3- from engaging, pull sun

visor -2- lightly downwards.

– Detach rearmost (when seen in direction of travel) retaining

clip -3- in sun visor bracket -1- using pliers - T10558A- .

– Pull sun visor -2- downwards.

NOTICE

Risk of damage to electrical wiring by pulling too forcefully.

– Carefully pull electrical wiring out of opening.

– Disconnect electrical connector.

– Remove clamping plate.

– Remove sun visor.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Wrap electrical connector with one layer of foam tape.

– Reach with a finger into recess of vanity mirror light and pull

moulded headliner down slightly.

– Position electrical connector between moulded headliner

and roof cross member.

– Engage foremost (when seen in direction of travel) retaining

clip.

– Engage rearmost (when seen in direction of travel) retaining

clip.

– Ensure that both retaining clips are properly engaged.

– Detach roof grab handle -1-.

NOTICE

Risk of damage to multifunction table if locking levers are

actuated in wrong position.

– Do not set down multifunction table on top cover and oper‐

ate locking lever like that.

– Move table top -1- halfway upwards.

– Insert suitable plate between yoke and pillar.

CAUTION

Risk of injury caused by flying metal shavings.

Eyes and skin can suffer irritation or injuries.

– Put on safety goggles.

– Put on protective gloves.

NOTICE

Risk of damage to lifting mechanism and multifunction table

– Do not drill hole too deep.

– Drill open spot -3- in trim -4- using a commercially available

power drill.

The diameter must be 8 mm.

The depth must not exceed 7 mm.

Note

Locking mechanism of table top is irreparably damaged in the

process.

– Pull out head table top -1- upwards.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Insert new table top into guide from above.

– Support yoke using suitable workshop means.

– Table top must audibly engage in bracket.

Installing

When renewing support leg:

– Remove retaining ring, and pull out axle.

– Disconnect electrical connector -1-.

NOTICE

Risk of window damage from screwdriver/drift.

– Leave screwdriver/drift in place when turning.

– Do not use screwdriver/drift as a lever.

– Insert commercially available screwdriver -2- or commercial‐

ly available drift of 4.5 mm in diameter into gap.

– Turn interior mirror -3- at mirror base 20° in direction of

-arrow- and pull off downwards.

– Unscrew bolts -1-.

– Remove spring clip -2-.

– Make sure that the interior mirror is aligned parallel with the

retaining plate.

– Turn interior mirror clockwise until it can be heard to engage.
