Removing  
– Remove dash panel end cover on driver side ⇒ Rep.  
gr. 70 ; Removing and installing dash panel end cover, driv‐  
er side .  
– Open flap -1-.  
– Unscrew bolts -2-.  
– Pull off dash panel end cover on driver side -1- far enough to  
gain access to electrical connector.  
– Disconnect electrical connector for operating unit for lighting  
- EX59- .  
– Remove dash panel trim on driver side -1-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
Tightening torques

(driver side)

vehicle as an example.

Removing  
– Release steering wheel adjustment mechanism.  
– Pull out steering wheel completely, and set it down. Use full  
adjustment range of steering column for this purpose.  
– Release upper steering column trim -1- from mountings of  
lower steering column trim -arrow B- and -arrow C-. To do  
this, turn steering wheel accordingly.  
– Unclip upper steering column trim -1- from gap cover in  
direction of -arrow A- using commercially available plastic  
wedge, and remove it.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Press in upper steering column trim until it engages audibly.

– Detach upper steering column trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 68 ; Remov‐  
ing and installing upper steering column trim .
