Bonnet

Opening the bonnet

4. Pull out the stay-rod from the bon-

net.

5. Hold the bonnet opened with the

stay rod.

1. Make sure the shift lever is in N

(Neutral, for Automated manual

transmission) or first gear or R

(Reverse, for Manual transmission)

and set the parking brake.

2. Pull the release lever to unlatch the

bonnet. The bonnet should pop up

slightly.

Closing the bonnet

1. Before closing the bonnet, check the

following:

• All filler caps in engine compart-

ment must be correctly installed.

• Gloves, rags or any other combus-

tible material must be removed

from the engine compartment.

2. Return the support rod to its clip

location for preventing it from rat-

tling.

3. Lower the bonnet halfway (lifted

about 1 ft. (30 cm) from the closed

position) and push down to securely

lock in place. Then double check to

be sure the bonnet is secure.

If the bonnet can be raised slightly, it

is not securely locked. Open it again

and close it with more force.

3. Go to the front of the vehicle, raise

the bonnet slightly, push up the sec-

ondary hood release lever (1) inside

of the bonnet centre and lift the bon-

net (2).

Opening the tailgate

WARNING

• Before closing the bonnet, ensure

all obstructions are removed from

around the bonnet opening.

• Always double check to be sure

that the bonnet is firmly latched

before driving away. Check there

is no bonnet open warning light or

message displayed on the instru-

ment cluster. Driving with the bon-

net opened may cause a total loss

of visibility, which might result in

an accident.

• Do not move the vehicle with the

bonnet in the raised position, as

vision is obstructed, which might

result in an accident, and the bon-

net could fall or be damaged.

• The tailgate is locked or unlocked by

turning the key to the “Lock” or

“Unlock” position. (if equipped)

• The tailgate is locked or unlocked

when all doors are locked or unlocked

with the remote key, smart key or

central door lock/unlock switch. (if

quipped with central door lock func-

tion)

• If unlocked, the tailgate can be

opened by pulling up the tailgate out-

side handle.

Information

In cold and wet climates, door lock and

door mechanisms may not work prop-

erly due to freezing conditions.

WARNING

The tailgate swings upward. Make

sure no objects or people are near

the rear of the vehicle when opening

the tailgate.

NOTICE

Make certain that you close the tail-

gate before driving your vehicle.

Possible damage may occur to the

tailgate lift cylinders and attaching

hardware if the tailgate is not closed

prior to driving.

Exhaust fumes

If you drive with the tailgate opened,

you will draw dangerous exhaust

fumes into your vehicle which can

cause serious injury or death to

vehicle occupants.

If you must drive with the tailgate

opened, keep the air vents and all

windows open so that additional

outside air comes into the vehicle.

Closing the tailgate

To close the tailgate, lower and push

down the tailgate firmly. Make sure that

the tailgate is securely latched.

WARNING

Always keep the tailgate lid com-

pletely closed whilst the vehicle is in

motion. If it is left open or ajar, poi-

sonous exhaust gases containing

carbon monoxide (CO) may enter the

vehicle and serious illness or death

may result.

Make sure your hands, feet and oth-

er parts of your body are safely out

of the way before closing the tail-

gate.

CAUTION

Make sure nothing is near the tail-

gate latch and striker whilst closing

the tailgate. It may damage the tail-

gate's latch.

WARNING

Rear cargo area

Occupants should never ride in the

rear cargo area where no restraints

are available. To avoid injury in the

event of an accident or sudden stops,

occupants should always be proper-

ly restrained.

3. Pull the fuel filler door out (1) to fully

open.

4. To remove the fuel tank cap (2), turn

it counterclockwise. You may hear a

hissing noise as the pressure inside

the tank equalizes.

Do not hold the part (gas lifter) that

supports the tailgate. Be aware that

the deformation of the part may

cause vehicle damage and a risk of

safety accident.

5. Place the cap on the fuel filler door

(3).

Information

If the fuel filler door does not open

because ice has formed around it, tap

lightly or push on the door to break the

ice and release the door. Do not pry on

the door. If necessary, spray around

the door with an approved de-icer fluid

(do not use radiator anti-freeze) or

move the vehicle to a warm place and

allow the ice to melt.

The fuel filler door must be opened

from inside the vehicle by pulling up the

fuel filler door opener.

1. Stop the engine.

2. Pull the fuel filler door opener up.

• Do not get back into a vehicle once

you have begun refuelling. You

can generate a build-up of static

electricity by touching, rubbing or

sliding against any item or fabric

capable of producing static elec-

tricity. Static electricity discharge

can ignite fuel vapours causing a

fire. If you must re-enter the vehi-

cle, you should once again elimi-

nate potentially dangerous static

electricity discharge by touching a

metal part of the vehicle, away

from the fuel filler neck, nozzle or

other petrol source, with your bare

hand.

Closing the fuel filler door

1. To install the fuel tank cap, turn it

clockwise until it “Clicks”.

2. Close the fuel filler door until it is

latched securely.

WARNING

Petrol is highly flammable and explo-

sive. Failure to follow these guide-

lines may result in SERIOUS INJURY

or DEATH:

• Read and follow all warnings post-

ed at the gas station.

• Before refuelling, note the location

of the Emergency Petrol Shut-Off,

if available, at the gas station.

• When refuelling, always move the

shift lever to the N (Neutral, for

Automated manual transmission)

or first gear or R (Reverse, for

Manual transmission) position, set

the parking brake, and place the

ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF

position. Sparks produced by elec-

trical components related to the

engine can ignite fuel vapours

causing a fire.

• Before touching the fuel nozzle,

you should eliminate the potential

build-up of static electricity by

touching a metal part of the vehi-

cle, a safe distance away from the

fuel filler neck, nozzle, or other gas

source, with your bare hand.

• Do not use mobile phones whilst

refuelling. Electric current and/or

fuel container, be sure to place the

container on the ground prior to

NOTICE

• Do not spill fuel on the exterior

surfaces of the vehicle. Any type

of fuel spilled on painted surfaces

may damage the paint.

• Do not over-fill or top-off your

vehicle tank, which can cause pet-

rol spillage.

• If the fuel filler cap requires

replacement, use only a genuine

HYUNDAI cap or the equivalent

specified for your vehicle. An

incorrect fuel filler cap can result

in a serious malfunction of the fuel

system or emission control sys-

tem.

• If a fire breaks out during refuel-

ling, leave the vicinity of the vehi-

cle, and immediately contact the

manager of the gas station and

then contact the local fire depart-

ment. Follow any safety instruc-

tions they provide.

• If pressurized fuel sprays out, it

can cover your clothes or skin and

thus subject you to the risk of fire

and burns. Always remove the fuel

cap carefully and slowly. If the cap

is venting fuel or if you hear a hiss-

ing sound, wait until the condition

stops before completely removing

the cap.

• Always check that the fuel cap is

installed securely to prevent fuel

spillage in the event of an acci-

dent.
