Introduction
Use only butane gas cylinders together with a cylinder safety valve and a pressure regulating valve which comply with
the European Standard EN 15202:
Butane gas cylinders type 904.
The above gas cylinders bear the following instruction from the manufacturer: “Not suitable for use in caravans and
motorhomes.” This warning means that gas cylinders of this type must not be used freely within the vehiclebut must
be housed in a special gas cylinder compartment.
There is a ventilation opening underneath the gas cylinder. Do not cover or close it. Check the floor vents regularly to
make sure they are free from obstruction →
.
Differences in some countries
In some countries, the connection on the pressure regulating valve and the gas cylinder may differ from the
description given here. In this case the components are retrofitted by the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles
dealership or importer.
National standards may additionally apply in some countries→
.
Your Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealership or qualified workshop can provide further information about the
differences in some countries.
DANGER
Risk of explosion when using non-compliant cylinder safety valves or pressure regulating valves.
Only cylinder safety valves and gas pressure regulators that are compliant with European standard EN 15202 may
be used.
DANGER
Leaking gas can cause an explosion.
Take the following actions if you smell gas when the cooker is switched off or when connecting a new gas
cylinder:
Ensure there is no source of fire, spark or open flame in the vicinity.
Close the safety cylinder valve to the gas cylinder.
Ensure that there is fresh air in the vehicle.
Do not connect the gas cylinder if you are unable to eliminate the source of the gas smell. Have the gas system
checked by a qualified workshop.
DANGER
Gas burners use up oxygen in the surrounding area. If the vehicle is not ventilated properly, a life threatening lack of
oxygen will develop.
Always ensure that there is adequate fresh air entering the vehicle from the moment the gas flame is lit until it is
turned off again.
Never use the gas burners to heat the vehicle interior.
WARNING
Work carried out incorrectly on the gas system can lead to serious injury.
All work on the gas system must be carried out by a qualified workshop only.
Never make modifications to the gas system.
If there is a leak or you suspect there is a leak in the gas system, have it checked by a qualified workshop.
WARNING
Improper or insufficient maintenance of the gas system can compromise its safety and cause serious injury.
330
Check the gas hose between the pressure regulator and the gas system regularly. If there is a leak or you suspect
there is a leak in the gas system, have it checked by a qualified workshop.
Have a qualified workshop check the gas system for leaks and proper function every two years.
In addition, a leak/function test must be carried out on the gas system by a qualified workshop every time the
system is repaired or the gas system connections are opened.
WARNING
Incorrect use of the gas system can cause serious injury.
The gas cylinder compartment cover must always be closed when there is a gas cylinder in the compartment.
Never connect the gas system to the town gas/gas mains.
Close all gas shut-off valves before driving and when not using the cooker for long periods.
Never allow the vents in the floor of the gas cylinder compartment to become blocked by slush, cleaning rags,
etc. Check the floor vents regularly to make sure they are free from obstruction.
WARNING
There is a danger of fire any time a gas burner is lit.
Never leave a lit burner unattended – especially when children are nearby.
Make sure the gas flame never extends beyond the edge of the pot or pan.
Do not use the opaque shades while the gas flame is lit. They should only be used once the flame has been
extinguished.
Make sure that no inflammable items are left close to the burners, e.g. cooking fat or oil.
Keep towels, clothing, paper, plastic and other inflammable materials well away from the gas cooker.
Never overheat oil or cooking fat.
WARNING
Damp or wet oven mitts or potholders can become very hot and cause scalding.
Use only dry oven mitts and potholders.
NOTICE
Never place hot objects, e.g. pots or pans, on the surface of the kitchenette or on table tops. Such objects could
damage these surfaces.

airtight.
Make sure that the gas hose is positioned without impediment and that it is not pinched or damaged at any point.
Changing the gas cylinder
First read the section on “Preparing to connect the gas cylinder” and follow the instructions carefully.
2
Make sure that the cylinder safety valve→ Fig. 1
is completely closed. This prevents gas from escaping
3
accidentally when the union nut → Fig. 1
is loosened.
Completely unscrew the union nut of the pressure regulator from the cylinder safety valve by turning it clockwise.
Loosen the securing strap.
Remove the gas cylinder.

If you smell gas while connecting the gas cylinder, take the following actions immediately:
Ensure there is no source of fire, spark or open flame in the vicinity.
Close the safety valve on the gas cylinder.
Open doors and windows to air out the vehicle.
If the source of the gas smell cannot be eliminated, do not connect the gas cylinder. Have the gas system
checked by a qualified workshop.
