Spark Plugs  
Specifications:  
1.2 engine model, 1.3 engine  
model, 1.4 engine model and 1.5  
SOHC engine model  
Tighten the spark plugs carefully. A  
spark plug that is too loose can  
overheat and damage the engine.  
Overtightening can cause damage to  
the threads in the cylinder head.  
IGNITION COILS  
NGK:  
BKR6E-11  
DENSO: K20PR-U11  
Spark Plug Gap:  
1.1 mm (0.04 in)  
0  
0.1 mm  
8. Install the ignition coil. Reinstall  
the bolt.  
9. Push the wire connector onto the  
ignition coil. Make sure it locks in  
place.  
10.Repeat this procedure for the  
other seven spark plugs.  
11.Reinstall the cover. Secure the  
cover by tightening the two  
holding bolts with a wrench.

Spark Plugs  
Replacement  
(1.5 SOHC VTEC engine model)  
BOLT

BOLTS  
LOCK TAB IGNITION COIL  
1. Remove the two holding bolts by  
using a wrench. Remove the cover  
by pulling it straight up.  
3. Use a wrench to remove the bolt  
holding the ignition coil. Remove  
the ignition coil by pulling it  
straight out.  
5. Remove the spark plug with a 16  
mm (5/8 inch) spark plug socket.  
2. Clean off any dirt and oil that have  
collected around the ignition coils.  
4. Disconnect the wire connector  
from the ignition coil by pushing  
on the lock tab and pulling on the  
connector. Pull on the plastic  
connector, not the wires.

Spark Plugs  
Tighten the spark plugs carefully. A

8. Push the wire connector onto the  
ignition coil. Make sure it locks in  
place.  
9. Install the ignition coil. Reinstall  
the bolt.  
6. Put the new spark plug into the  
socket, then screw it into the hole.  
Screw it in by hand so you do not  
crossthread it.  
7. Torque the spark plug. (If you do  
not have a torque wrench, tighten  
the spark plug 2/3 of a turn after it  
contacts the cylinder head.)  
Tightening torque:  
18 N·m (1.8 kgf·m , 13 lbf·ft)

the gap adjustment.

10.Repeat this procedure for the  
other three spark plugs.  
11.Reinstall the cover. Secure the  
cover by tightening the two  
holding bolts with a wrench.
