– Check battery terminal clamps -1- and -5- for secure seating.  
If necessary, retighten nuts -2- and -6-.

The following are measures to be carried out during a battery  
inspection within the scope of maintenance.

Check whether colour indicator is “3-colour” or “2-colour”.  
Does not apply to AGM batteries.

Battery check using battery tester with printer -VAS 6161-.  
Depending on the result of the battery test, “perform cur‐  
rent draw test” (charged separately).

The battery status is read while the transportation mode is be‐  
ing switched off ⇒ page 162 .

Front passenger front airbag: checking  
key switch and “ON/OFF function”  
Note  
The “PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF” switch is located in the  
dashboard on the front passenger side.  
Front passenger front airbag: checking key switch and “ON/OFF  
function”.  
– Using ignition key, turn switch to position “PASSENGER  
AIRBAG OFF”.  
– Switch on ignition.  
– Warning lamp “PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF” -arrow- must  
also light up after self-test (passenger airbag deactivated).  
– Switch off ignition.
