General body repairs, interior - Edition 09.2024  
Removing  
– Unclip wiring harness from retainer -2-.  
– Disconnect electrical connectors -3-.  
– Unclip control unit -1- from fastener -arrows-.  
– Remove control unit -1- in direction of -arrow A-.

Install in reverse order of removal.

Removing and installing seat adjust‐  
ment operating unit [E470]/[E471]  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ release tool - T10236-  
Driver seat adjustment operating unit - E470- and front passen‐  
ger seat adjustment operating unit - E471- will henceforth be  
referred to as “operating unit”.  
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐  
cle as an example.  
Removing  
– Remove outer seat trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 72 ; Removing and  
installing outer seat trim .  
– Lever off buttons -3- and -4- using release tool - T10236- .  
– Unscrew bolts -2-.  
– Detach operating unit -1-.

Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
Tightening torques  
♦ ⇒ Rep. gr. 72 ; Assembly overview – seat pan

Removing and installing operating unit  
for memory settings [E464]/[E465]  
The driver operating unit for memory settings - E464- and  
front passenger operating unit for memory settings - E465-  
will henceforth be referred to as “operating unit for memory  
settings”.  
Removal and installation are described for the driver side as an  
example.  
Removing  
– Remove outer seat trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 72 ; Removing and  
installing outer seat trim .

– Release locking devices -2-. At the same time, remove oper‐  
ating unit for memory settings -1-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal.

an example.

Vehicles with rear left footwell light - W45-  
– Remove rear left footwell light - W45- ⇒ Electrical system;  
Rep. gr. 96 ; Lights; Removing and installing rear footwell  
light [W45]/[W46] .  
All vehicles (continued)  
– Lever off seat trim -1- using commercially available plastic  
wedge, and remove it.

Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal.

Vehicles with backrest adjuster  
– Remove backrest adjuster ⇒ Rep. gr. 72 ; Removing and  
installing backrest adjuster .

– Move front seat to highest position.
