Removing and installing head restraint  
Removal and installation is described for one head restraint as  
an example.  
Removing  
– Press release button -2- on head restraint guide -1- in direc‐  
tion of -arrow A-, and hold it there.  
– Pull out head restraint -3- in direction of -arrow B-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal.

– Remove cover and padding of rear seat backrest ⇒ Rep.  
gr. 74 ; Removing and installing cover and padding of rear  
seat backrest .  
– Press fasteners -arrows-, and pull out head restraint guides  
-1-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Insert new head restraint guides into recess.  
– Note installation position of head restraint guides.  
Important  
•
Head restraint guides must engage in recess.

– Pull head restraint guides to make sure they are seated  
correctly.

Removing and installing trim for locking  
mechanism  
Removing  
– Unclip trim for locking mechanism -1- using commercially  
available plastic wedge, and remove it.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal.

anism for rear seat backrest, holder  
Removal and installation are described for one individual seat  
as an example.  
Removing  
– Remove fitting trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 72 ; Removing and installing  
seat trim .  
3. Rear seats

– Remove strap -1- from retainers -arrows-.  
Note  
Position of strap may vary.  
Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Removing  
– Operate locking button -arrows-, and remove centre armrest  
-1-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Pull centre armrest to make sure it is seated correctly.

– Remove centre armrest ⇒ Rep. gr. 72 ; Removing and  
installing centre armrest .  
– Turn trim collar -1- in direction of -arrow-, and remove it.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal.

Removing and installing centre arm‐  
rest, adapter  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Drill, commercially available  
♦ Suitable drill drill bit, commercially available  
♦ special pop rivet pliers - VAS 5072A-  
Removal and installation are described for one adapter as an  
example.  
Removing  
– Remove cover and padding of rear seat backrest ⇒ Rep.  
gr. 74 ; Removing and installing cover and padding of rear  
seat backrest .  
CAUTION  
Risk of injury caused by flying metal shavings.  
Eyes and skin can suffer irritation or injuries.  
– Put on safety goggles.  
– Put on protective gloves.  
3. Rear seats

– Drill out pop rivets -1- and -2- using a commercially available  
power drill.  
– Remove adapter -3-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Use special pop rivet pliers - VAS 5072A- to insert new pop  
rivets ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA) in the sequence  
-1- and -2-.
