ISG ǣIDLE STOP AND GOǤ SYSTEM ǣIF EQUIPPEDǤ  
The ISG system is to reduce the fuel  
consumption by automatically shut-  
ting down the engine, when the vehi-  
cle is at a standstill (i.e. red stop light,  
VWRSꢀVLJQꢁꢀDQGꢀWUDIILFꢀMDPꢂꢃꢀ  
‡ꢀ 7KHꢀ VWHHULQJꢀ ZKHHOꢀ LVꢀ WXUQHGꢀ OHVVꢀ

The engine is automatically started  
upon satisfying the starting condi-  
tions.  
The ISG system is always active,  
when the engine is running.

When the engine is automatically  
started by the IS* system, some warn-  
ing lights (i.e. ABS, ESC, ESC 2FF,  
EPS, and parking brake warning light)  
may illuminate for a few seconds due  
to the low battery voltage. +owever, it  
does not indicate a malfunction with  
the IS* system.  
:7)ꢇꢈꢈꢈ  
‡ 7he IS* system is not activated,  
when the prerequisites to activate  
the IS* system are unsatisfied. In  
this case, the IS* 2FF button indica-  
tor illuminates, and the auto stop  
indicator (  
) illuminates in yellow  
To activate the ISG system  
Prerequisite for activation  
The ISG system operates in the fol-  
lowing situations.

‡ When the above indicator remains  
illuminated on the instrument clus-  
ter, we recommend that you have the  
IS* system checked by a +<81'AI  
authorised repair.

7he driving speed must reach at least 5  
km/h (3 mph) after an idle stop to stop  
the engine in idle stop mode again.  
The ISG OFF button indicator illumi-  
nates.

ISG system malfunction  
7he IS* system may not operate:  
When there is a malfunction with the  
ISG sensors or the ISG system.  
7he followings occur, when there is  
a malfunction with the IS* system:  
‡ꢀ 7KHꢀ DXWRꢀ VWRSꢀ LQGLFDWRUꢀ ꢊ

2FF button indicator by pressing  
the IS* 2FF button, or when the  
malfunction with the IS* system  
persists, we recommend that you  
contact  
repairer.

To deactivate the ISG system  
‡ <ou can turn off the IS* 2FF button  
indicator by driving over 50 mph (80  
km/h) for up to 2 hours with the fan  
speed below the 2nd position. If the  
IS* 2FF button indicator remains  
21, we recommend that you contact  
a +<81'AI authorised repairer.  
‡ꢀ 3UHVVꢀWKHꢀ,6*ꢀ2))ꢀEXWWRQꢀWRꢀGHDF-  
tivate the ISG system. Then, the  
ISG OFF button indicator illumi-  
nates, and the message “Auto Stop  
System Off” appears on the LCD  
display.  
‡ꢀ 3UHVVꢀWKHꢀ,6*ꢀ2))ꢀEXWWRQꢀDJDLQꢀWRꢀ  
reactivate the ISG system. Then,  
the ISG OFF button indicator turns  
OFF.  
WARNING  
When the engine is in auto stop  
mode, the engine may restart.  
Before leaving the vehicle or  
checking the engine compartment,  
stop the engine by placing the igni-  
WLRQꢀVZLWFKꢀWRꢀWKHꢀ/2&.ꢁ2))ꢀSRVL-  
tion or removing the ignition key.

7he IS* system may not operate in the  
following situations.  
- 7here is a malfunction with the IS*  
system.  
- 7he battery is weak.  
- 7he brake vacuum pressure is low.  
In those cases, we recommend that you  
have the IS* system checked by a  
+<81'AI authorised repairer.

NOTICE  
The battery sensor is deactivated,  
when the battery is disconnected  
from the negative pole for mainte-  
nance purpose.  
‡ꢀ 8VHꢀ RQO\ꢀ WKHꢀ JHQXLQHꢀ +<81'$,ꢀ  
ISG battery for replacement. If  
not, the ISG system may not nor-  
mally operate.  
In this case, the ISG system is limit-  
edly operated due to the battery sen-  
sor deactivation. Thus, the driver  
needs to take the following proce-  
dures to reactivate the battery sensor  
after disconnecting the battery.  
‡ꢀ 'RQRWUHFKDUJHWKH,6*EDWWHU\ꢀ  
with a general battery charger. If  
not, it may damage or explode  
the ISG battery.  
‡ꢀ 'RꢀQRWꢀUHPRYHꢀWKHꢀEDWWHU\ꢀFDSꢂꢀ,Iꢀ  
not, the battery electrolyte, which  
is harmful to the human body,  
may leak out.  
Prerequisites to reactivate the  
battery sensor  
Keep the engine in the OFF status for  
ꢈꢀ KRXUVꢁꢀ DQGꢀ DWWHPSWꢀ WRꢀ UHVWDUWꢀ WKHꢀ  
HQJLQHꢀ ꢉꢀ WRꢀ ꢈꢀ WLPHVꢀ IRUꢀ WKHꢀ EDWWHU\ꢇ  
sensor reactivation.  
3D\ꢀ H[WUHPHꢀ FDXWLRQꢀ QRWꢀ WRꢀ FRQQHFWꢀ  
any accessories (i.e. navigation and  
black box) to the vehicle with the  
engine in the OFF status. If not, the  
battery sensor may not be reactivat-  
ed.
