An overview of the online services that are activated for you is available in the Infotainment system in the
Privacy settings and services(→ Privacy settings) menu, on the Internet in themyVolkswagen customer area,
or in the Volkswagen app (hereafter referred to as "app").
Performing online services via the app may use data and lead to costs. If the contractually agreed volume of data is
exceeded, the transfer rate will decrease, which may cause delays in performing online services.
Registering for online services
To be able to use online services in the vehicle, you must carry out the following steps:
1. Create a Volkswagen ID (→ Volkswagen ID).
2. Create a new user (→ User management).
3. Become a primary user (→ User management) and, if necessary, perform Volkswagen Ident procedures for
using safety-relevant online services (→ Volkswagen Ident procedure).
Data processing
Applies to EU countries where the General Data Protection Regulation is in effect.
When using services, vehicle information is sent and processed online. This data can provide indirect information
about the respective driver, e.g. regarding vehicle handling. You can find the privacy policy regarding the use of
Volkswagen's mobile online services in the Infotainment system in the app overview under Legal.
To keep the information underLegal up to date, the vehicle must not permanently be in offline mode. In this
mode, the information cannot be updated. If the information is obsolete, you will be informed by a pop-up
notification.
Permanent transfer of the vehicle
If the vehicle has been purchased used or if the vehicle has been permanently transferred to you, online services may
already be activated and the previous user may be able to view data acquired by online services and control certain
functions of your vehicle.
You can see in the Infotainment system if your vehicle is assigned to a person as a primary user. In this case, restore
the Infotainment system to factory settings and then register yourself as the primary user of the vehicle.
