Removing and installing rear three-  
point seat belt  
2.7.1  
Removing and installing rear three-  
point seat belt, 2nd row  
Rear three-point seat belt with rear belt tensioner igniter on  
driver side - N196- and rear belt tensioner igniter on passenger  
side - N197- will henceforth be referred to as “three-point seat  
belt”.  
Removal and installation are described for left side of vehicle as  
an example.  
Removing  
– Disconnect battery earth cable ⇒ Electrical system; Rep.  
gr. 27 ; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery .

– Remove side trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 70 ; Removing and installing  
side trim .  
– Unscrew bolt -1-.  
– Remove belt guide fitting -2-.  
CAUTION  
It is possible to trigger pyrotechnic components unintentional‐  
ly.  
Risk of injury  
– Discharge static electricity by briefly touching door striker  
plate.  
2. Seat belts

NOTICE  
Risk of irreparable damage due to electrostatic discharge.  
– Do not touch connector contacts with your hands.  
– Touch the lifting platform or other earthed object to dis‐  
charge static electricity.

– Disconnect electrical connector -1-, releasing securing clip  
with a small commercially available screwdriver when doing  
so.  
– Unscrew bolt -2-.  
– Remove rear three-point seat belt -3-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Connect battery earth cable ⇒ Electrical system; Rep.  
gr. 27 ; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery .  
CAUTION  
Pyrotechnic components can trigger unintentionally.  
Risk of injury.  
– Keep far away from pyrotechnic components when switch‐  
ing on ignition.  
– Switch on ignition.

Rear three-point seat belt with igniter for driver side seat belt

– Remove side trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 70 ; Removing and installing  
side trim .  
– Unscrew nut -2-.

– Remove belt guide fitting -1-.

– Remove adapter for back panel trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 72 ; Re‐  
moving and installing back panel trim .

– Unscrew bolt -1-.  
– Remove belt guide fitting -2-.

– Remove three-point automatic seat belt -1-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Guide three-point seat belt through backrest frame and  
adapter for back panel trim.  
– Guide three-point seat belt through backrest foam.
