Descriptions of work -> Engine oil level: Check, replenish if necessary for Your Volkswagen Lupo 2 Door First Generation (1998-2005)

– Push blocking pieces -arrows- off piston rod.  
– Slide suspension strut protective sleeve downwards onto sus‐  
pension strut.

Engine oil level: Check, replenish if nec‐  
essary  
Please note the following:  
After shutting off engine, wait at least 3 minutes so that the oil can  
flow back into the sump.  
– Pull out dipstick, wipe with a clean cloth and push dipstick in  
again to limit stop.  
Note  
Observe environmental regulations for disposal.  
4.8.1  
Engine codes AER, AFK, AHT, AHW,  
AKU, AKQ, ALD, ALL, ANV, APE, AQQ,  
ARR, AUA, AUB, AUC, AUD, AVY, BBY  
– Pull dipstick out again and read oil level.  
♦ Area -a-: Oil must be replenished. After replenishing it is suf‐  
ficient when the oil level is somewhere in area -b-.  
♦ Area -b-: Oil must not be replenished.  
♦ Area -b-: Oil must not be replenished.  
Note  
A danger exists of damaging the catalytic converter when oil level  
is above area -c-.

4.8.2  
Engine code AMF  
– Pull dipstick out again and read oil level.  
♦ Area -a-: Oil must be replenished. After replenishing it is suf‐  
ficient when the oil level is somewhere in area -b-.  
♦ Area -b-: Oil must not be replenished.  
♦ Area -b-: Oil must not be replenished.  
Note  
A danger exists of damaging the catalytic converter when oil level  
is above area -c-.

Engine codes ANY, AYZ  
– Pull dipstick out again and read oil level.  
♦ Area -a-: Oil must be replenished. After replenishing it is suf‐  
ficient when the oil level is somewhere in area -b-.  
♦ Area -b-: Oil must not be replenished.  
♦ Area -b-: Oil must not be replenished.  
Note  
A danger exists of damaging the catalytic converter when oil level  
is above area -c-.  
Continued for all vehicles:  
– When oil level is below min. marking, replenish with oil to max.

Driver and front passenger airbags: Vis‐  
ual check of airbag units  
4.9.1  
Driver side airbag:  
Airbag recognition, is via the inscription “AIRBAG” on the steering  
wheel padded plate.  
– Carry out visual check of padded plate -1- for exterior damage.  
WARNING  
♦ The steering wheel padded plate surface must not have  
stickers attached or be covered or otherwise be modified.  
This ensures that the future function of the airbag is guar‐  
anteed. Ensure the customer is aware of these instruc‐  
tions.  
♦ The steering wheel padded plate must only be cleaned  
with a dry cloth or a cloth moistened with water.
