Power assisted steering: Check fluid
level
Note
♦ Vehicles with engine codes ANY, AYZ have an electro-me‐
chanical power assisted steering, for this reason there is no
oil level check.
♦ On vehicles with FSI engine and electro-hydraulic power as‐
sisted steering there is also no oil level check.
Carry out following procedure:
4.22.1
Oil in cold condition:
– Do not start engine but bring front wheels to straight-ahead
position.
Engine codes AER, AHT, AKU, ALL, AMF
– Fit a suitable screwdriver into cap recess -arrow- and unscrew
cap with oil dipstick.
– Wipe off dipstick using a clean cloth.
– Screw filler cap on hand tight and unscrew again.
Engine codes AFK, AHW, AKQ, ALD, ANV, APE, AQQ, AUA,
AUB, AUC, AUD, AVY, BBY
– Fit a suitable screwdriver into cap recess -arrow- and unscrew
cap with oil dipstick.
– Wipe off dipstick using a clean cloth.
– Screw filler cap on hand tight and unscrew again.

Note
The cap must be fully screwed on in order to obtain an accurate
fluid level reading.
– Checking oil level: The oil level must be within the area of the
grid -A-.
Note
♦ If fluid level is above specified range, fluid must be extracted.
♦ If fluid level is below specified range, the hydraulic system
must be checked for leaks (repair measure). It is not sufficient
just to fill fluid. If the hydraulic system is not leaking, replenish
power assisted steering oil - G 009 300 A2- .
– Screw cap on hand tight (with a screwdriver).
