Driving Â
â–º Accelerate gradually to automatically release Â
the electric parking brake. Â
Information displayed on Â
the instrument panel Â
At speeds below 3 mph (5 km/h), opening Â
the driver’s door will engage mode P - risk Â
of sudden braking! Â

The vehicle moves off immediately. Â
When the ignition is switched on, the gearbox Â
status is displayed on the instrument panel: Â
Never try to start the engine by pushing Â
the vehicle. Â
In the event of battery failure, it is essential Â
to place the chock(s) supplied with the tool Â
kit against one of the wheels to immobilise Â
the vehicle. Â

Automatic forward gear Â
Manual forward gear Â
Regardless of the current gearbox mode, mode Â
P is immediately engaged automatically when Â
the ignition is switched off. Â
However, in mode N, mode P will be engaged Â
after a delay of 5 seconds (time to enable Â
freewheeling mode). Â
Check that mode P has been engaged and Â
that the electric parking brake was applied Â
automatically; if not, apply it manually. Â
Special aspects of automatic mode Â
The gearbox selects the gear that provides Â
optimal performance based on ambient Â
temperature, road profile, vehicle loading and Â
driving style. Â
For maximum acceleration, press the accelerator Â
fully down (kick-down). The gearbox changes Â
down automatically or holds the selected gear Â
until the maximum engine speed is reached. Â
Steering mounted controls allow the driver to Â
temporarily select a gear, if the vehicle speed Â
and engine speed conditions permit. Â
The state of the gearbox remains displayed on Â
the instrument panel for a few seconds after Â
switching off the ignition. Â
Operation Â
Only appropriate mode change instructions are Â
validated. Â
With the engine running, if it is necessary to Â
depress the brake pedal to change modes, Â
an alert message will be displayed on the Â
instrument panel. Â
The corresponding indicator lamps Â
on the gear selector and the electric Â
parking brake control must be on, as Â
well as the indicator lamps on the in- Â
strument panel. Â
Special aspects of manual mode Â
The gearbox only changes from one gear to Â
another if the vehicle speed and engine speed Â
conditions permit. Â
With the engine running and the brakes Â
released, if R, D or M is selected, the Â
vehicle moves off, even without pressing the Â
accelerator pedal. Â
Never depress the accelerator and brake Â
pedals at the same time - risk of damage to Â
the gearbox! Â
Gearbox malfunction Â
This warning lamp comes on, accom- Â
panied by an audible signal and the Â
display of a message. Â
Starting the vehicle Â
â–º Fully depress the brake pedal. Â
â–º Start the engine. Â
â–º With your foot on the brake pedal, push once Â
or twice backwards to select automatic mode Â
D, or forwards to shift into reverse gear R. Â
Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified Â
workshop. Â
Do not drive faster than 62 mph (100 km/h), Â
keeping to the speed limit. Â
If you open the driver's door while mode Â
N is engaged, an audible signal will sound Â
and mode P will be engaged. The audible Â
signal stops when the driver's door is closed. Â
â–º Release the brake pedal. Â
Switching of the gearbox to back-up mode Â
Mode D locks in third gear. Â
