Vehicles with control unit for head-up display - J898-
– Remove cover for dash panel/head-up display ⇒ Rep.
gr. 70 ; Removing and installing cover for dash panel/head-
up display .
All vehicles (continued)
– Remove upper A-pillar trims at front ⇒ Rep. gr. 70 ; Remov‐
ing and installing upper A-pillar trim .

– Unscrew bolts -2- on left and right.
– Mask off dash panel in area of dash panel cover -1- using
commercially available adhesive tape.
– Use removal wedge from removal wedge set - VAS 895 015-
to slightly lift up dash panel cover -1-, and fit removal pliers -
3392- in area marked with -arrow-.
– Use removal pliers - 3392- to lever off dash panel cover -1-
starting from left.
– Pull dash panel cover -1- out of mountings -3- far enough to
gain access to electrical connector.
– Disconnect electrical connector.
– Remove dash panel trim -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ removal wedge set - VAS 895 015-
The lower centre dash panel cover will henceforth be referred to
as “dash panel cover”.
Removal and installation are described for a left-hand drive
vehicle as an example.
